A reel that rules with intuition
This spring we extensively tested for you the newest reel development from "Coret": the Marryat Plus, even though it officially was put on the market at the EFTTEX 2005.
What distinguishes this reel from most others? It has a special Dual Mode function. Here’s the trick: By squeezing the handle you can switch from Anti-reverse to Direct drive! This means in practice: In Anti-reverse mode the fish can be taking line without you having to withdraw your hand from the reel nor needing to change the drag force. However if you want to force in the fish during the final stage or just hold, then you can do this as well: Simply with thumb and index finger you press the handle a little harder to activate the switch and the "Marryat Plus" is already in Direct Drive.
Depending on how hard you press the handle, you can the vary drag force even during the fight and therefore, truly speaking, control the fight with the tip of your fingers!
This change-over is made possible thanks to the new "Marryat Online Drag Technology" and obviously this technique together with the extraordinary drag will establish itself, especially for fishing strong and fast fish (Salmon, Steelhead, Bone, Tarpon)
The "Marryat Plus" is very light weight despite this technical innovation - our test reel applicable for lines 8 to 10, weighed 185g (6.5 oz). The backing capacity is more than enough which is 150 to 200 meters (165 to 225 yds) depending on the fly line. For example with a WF 9 F you get 180 meters (200 yds).
The additional features of this "Swiss Made" reel are excellent: Changing of the spool and changing from right to left hand retrieve is extremely easy, the maintenance free aluminum fly reel ("bar stock") is hard anodized and especially developed for saltwater use - and it looks good too…
The new "Marryat Plus" reels are now available at retail shops with an introductory price just under 700 Euro ($ 850).
